Our congressional representative, William Timmons, graciously met with us on August 28, 2025. We discussed the difficulties our church was facing, as our many of our priests had been deported or were facing deportation soon. Mr. Timmons reviewed H.R 2672, and told us it was a reasonable and bipartisan piece of legislation, and offered to cosign it.

 

Unfortunately, he is not on the House Judiciary Committee and therefore does not have as much influence as a committee member would have. It was suggested we contact churches in the districts of committee members.

 

In the Senate, our Senator Lindsey Graham is on the Judiciary Committee and we will continue trying to contact him about S. 1298.

In the meantime we present here a list of House members who are on the Judiciary Committee. If you live in one of their districts (or know someone who does) they can be contacted with requests to move this bill out of committee and onto the floor for a vote.

Bill HR 2672 is sitting in committee. There are over 10,000 bills filed annually. Only 250-350 bills make it out of committee to be voted on. Most legislatures are unaware of filed bills unless attention is brought to them, by constituents or special interest groups.
